Topics for Leadership Meetings

The following are some topics and questions that CEL & Associates, Inc. recommends be brought up at Executive Committee, Operations Committee or Leadership meetings. Please let us know the eventual outcome of your discussion.

  • If interest rates rise 25, 50 or 75 basis points, what impact will that have on operations, property cash flows and profitability? What steps should you be taking now to prepare yourselves for what most believe will occur within the next 60 to 180 days?
  • What should you be doing to reduce your company's level of employee turnover? Should you be fine-tuning or dramatically overhauling your current hiring practices? What percentage of employee turnover can be attributed to compensation issues? When was the last time you changed your compensation plan? Are you in need of a change now? If not now, when?
  • There have been several changes to U.S. labor laws pertaining to overtime pay. How is your firm responding to these laws that cause significant fines/penalties if you are found to be non-compliant with the new regulations?
  • How well do you know your customers? What is your existing program to obtain feedback? How often do you meet with your "most important" customers? Do you know the business drivers of your customers? How well do you know the customers of your customers? What would happen if your key customer contacts were no longer there?
  • Can you quantify the actual financial benefits you have gained as a result of your expenditures on, and in, technology? How has your technology improved on: productivity; ability to spend more time with your customers; and your overall competitive edge?
  • One of the top three employee concerns, according to recent CEL & Associates, Inc. employee satisfaction surveys within the real estate industry, is "too much paperwork." What has occurred, is occurring and is scheduled to occur that will address this situation within your organization?
  • What is the most recent article or book that you (this question is posed to all meeting attendees) have read that has direct relevance to your company's future success? Please describe the most important finding from your reading.
  • How do you make your Managers into Leaders and your Leaders into Coaches? If you could eliminate one layer of management, which would it be?
